Trinkets from time ill-spent
Of vivid dreams pseudo-fulfilled
Bleeding wounds
Gaping and unhealed

Permanent testaments
To the chains that hold me
To the truth that binds me
To the fear of eternity

A far stretch from the old
The freedom I used to savor
A freedom that burned me
And caused me to withdraw

I was Icarus flying freely
With wings of wax
Closer and closer to the sun
The warm inviting sun

The same warmth and light
I now fear constantly
A lost faith drowned in ugliness
From where I once saw beauty
