Was reading through some things on the Net and this particular piece caught my attention. The truth in it is so blunt yet perfectly stated. Not so much on books but on how people are in general when they think they are better than others.

Postremo pensandum
Quanta doctrinae commoditas sit in libris
Quam facilis, quam arcana!
Quam tuto libris humanae ignorantia paupertatem
sine verecundia denudamus!
Hi sunt magistri qui nos instruunt
sine virgis et ferula,
sine verbis et cholera, sine pannis et pecunia.
si accedis, non dormiunt;
Si inquirens interrogas, non abscondunt;
Non remurmurant si oberres;
Cachinnos nesciunt, si ignores.
(Richard de BuryPhilobiblon, I, 9)

And finally, one must consider how great the ease of learning
there is in books, how yielding, how trusting !
How safely we reveal, without shyness, in the face of our books
the poverty of our human ignorance !
They are teachers who instruct us without switches or rods,
without slaps or anger, without notice of rags or riches.
If you approach them , they are not asleep;
If you ask a question, they do not hide;
They do not mutter at you if you make a mistake;
When you are ignorant, they do not know how to laugh at you.

The mist shrouds the path of a soul looking for absolution.
Blinded and bound by desires that should not be tamed.
A hint of pain and a mouthful of shame,
for a life as complex as the woven fabric of reality.
Cursed by the ecstasy of sin.
Blessed by the truth in these lies.
Eyes shut, heart locked down.
Saved from an eternity bound by the shackles faithfulness.
Giving all yet holding back so much.
Never completely giving in to the temptation.
Never bending to its will.
Not blessed nor cursed.
Writhing in the pain of the beautiful and soulful.
Mindless, Heartless Attraction.

One last smile
before I turn in tonight
One last glance
before I stay in seclusion

The last sweet dream
before reality sinks in
This last moment
I will not forget

Into my memory
this time shall stay
It is my only treasure
and my only foothold

This last moment
is the longest I've had
and each night
I shall return to it

Ever wake up and just feel like something is missing? Like you lost something you know does not exist or you cannot have?

something hollow
something sad
losing myself
going mad...

an empty vessel
which was once full
loved and hated
by a Fate so cruel

breathless am I
from the trials of life
I will stay on course
despite the strife

I made my choice
and I will not fold
I plan to be brave
I'll try to be bold

I am not blind, but I fail to see, how wonderful and great you may be. As time sets our limits, we no longer cross paths. Caring so much that we stay in our silence, a silence that weeps in memory of what was there. Acting like we do not care simply because the rules have been set. No one would ever dare push for more than what is already there. A risk that no one would take since life has already given us our fate. Who are we to dare and defy the truth that we play with under God's eye? No matter how we cheat or lie, we end up with hello's or goodbye's. Life is fair, if truth be told. Life is cruel as it is bold. Please forgive me if I lay in silence or talk out loud about the future's essence. I am merely man of questionable beliefs. Hiding behind strength but crying in my sleep. Be still in your slumber and try to forget, come morning you will lose all regrets. I am the king of truths that appear as lies. I appear to fall whenever I rise. I am filled with hate, I show no shame. Yet I shed a tear when I call out your name. You see with your heart, you cut through the lies. You work for your soul but you shall win no prize. No matter how wonderful or great you can be, i will never realize this... For I am not blind, but I choose not to see.
